User support
If you have any questions on anything relating to the UniK computer equipment, or if you want to report any equipment faults, this is what you do:
- Send an e-mail to 'drift at unik.no' ,
describing the problem. Let us know the name of the PC (this is normally on a label stuck to the casing) and your room number. Attach any error messages you receive.
In the event of network problems, it might be a good idea to find the number of your cable duct.
- If you're unable to send e-mail, or if it's easier for you to describe the problem 'verbally' call 702 /746.
- If you need to meet with us, we try to be available for consultations between 12:00 and 14:00.
There are some good reasons as to why we prefer to receive your error reports by e-mail:
- We deal with incoming e-mails in a 'fair', chronological order.
- When faults occur in the network, as a rule a number of people are affected. If we have to respond to a lot of equiries, this takes up unnecessary time.
- As a rule, a written description will be better thought out. For example, you can paste in error messages, etc.
- A number of us respond to the e-mails. This means that you will get faster, safer responses.
- We log a lot of our e-mail for later reference.
If you have any suggestions or problems that you would like to discuss with someone, please call the Operations manager in room 101 on 702. Acquisitions in connection with the master's degree assignment require approval from a supervisor.
We are unable to provide support for private equipment which is brought into UniK or connected to the UniK network via SSH, VPN or WLAN.
