Research:
Helge Godø received his Ph. D. from the University of Roskilde in Denmark in 1995, in innovation studies, however, he graduated with a Cand. Polit. (MA) degree in social science from the University of Oslo in 1975. Current job: Senior researcher at the NIFU - Norwegian Institute for Studies in Research and Higher Education - in a group for science & technology policy and innovation studies. Other current positions: Program Board Leader for a national research program in the Research Council of Norway, on the social and cultural aspects of ICT - SKIKT. Lecturer at The Center for Technology at Kjeller (UniK) of the University of Oslo, in ''Technology, innovations and product development''. From 1991 to 1996, Helge Godø was director of research, responsible for research planning and strategy at Telenor Research and Development of Telenor AS, Norway's largest telecommunications operating company. Prior to this, he was advisor responsible for research strategy and evaluations at Telenor Research and Development, at that time called the Norwegian Telecommunications Research Establishment. In the period of 1987-89, he worked as the Secretary of the Energy and Industry Committee of the Storting (Norwegian Parliament), after doing research on future demand for telecommunications at the Norwegian Telecommunications Research Establishment, from 1980. Main research interest: The interaction between technological development, in particular ICT, and society; understanding and explaining how and why technologies are created and how social and cultural factors are incorporated in technological solutions.
